Break down the wall of hatred to enjoy a peaceful life
After 20 years, the rift between them has been healed. The wall of hatred separating the two cousins has been demolished.
A merchant in a small town had two twin sons. The two boys work together at their father’s shop. When he passed away, they took care of the store in his place.
Everything was going well until one day, when a bill disappeared. The younger brother left the bill on the counter and went out with the customer. When he returned, the bill was gone. The younger brother asked the brother:
– Did you see the money?
“No,” replied the brother.
However, the younger brother did not stop searching and asking questions.
– You can’t help but touch it. The bill can’t get up and run away on its own! Surely you must see it!
Accusation floated in the younger brother’s voice. Tensions began to rise between the two cousins. Resentment also followed.
Not long after, a sharp and deep chasm separated the two young men. They didn’t say a word to each other. In the end they decided not to work together and a wall was built in the middle of the store.
Animosity and resentment also grew over the next 20 years, spreading to their entire family.
One day, a man parked his car right in front of the store. He walked in and asked the salesman:
– How long have you been here?
The salesman replied that he had been here all his life. The guest continued:
– I have to tell you this. Twenty years ago, I was riding the train and came across this town. At that time I did not eat anything for 3 days. When I got here through the back door and saw the bill on the cash register, I put it in my pocket and went out.
I can’t forget that over the years. I know it’s not a lot of money but I have to come back here and ask your forgiveness.
Person man The stranger was surprised to see tears rolling down the cheeks of this middle-aged salesman.
– Could you please go to the store next door and tell this story to the man in that store? – He suggested.
Then the strange man was even more surprised when he saw two middle-aged men, who looked very similar, crying in front of the store. After 20 years, the rift between them has been healed. The wall of hatred separating the two cousins has been demolished.
In life there are small things that often happen and unintentionally separate people from each other – hasty words without thinking, criticism, accusations, or words of blame, resentment. And once separated, they may never get back together.
The best way to avoid these hurtful situations is to overlook each other’s little mistakes. This isn’t easy, but it’s not too difficult either.
Let go of the frustrations and you might be surprised how little energy it takes to build bonds with the people you love.
