The patient said that when he was holding a bunch of balloons containing hydrogen gas for decoration, the balloon suddenly exploded. The accident caused this female student to burn her face and arms and had to go to the emergency room.

Doctor Hai recommends that in May-June – the time when senior students are about to graduate from school – there are often celebrations or on New Year’s and birthdays, hydrogen-filled balloons are used a lot for decoration. .

Hydrogen gas is very flammable, if something goes wrong, the compressed hydrogen in the balloon will explode violently.

Due to the very close distance of holding the ball, when the ball explodes, there is a risk of causing hair burns, facial burns, blindness… Although the burns are not deep, they are often found in places such as the head, face, neck, ears and two tables. hands … so it can leave scars causing cosmetic loss.

The doctor recommends that adults should not play or allow children to play this type of ball, because children are hyperactive and easily expose the ball to explosive hazards such as a source of fire.

“Just the cigarette butts of people around accidentally shot or the strong impact of the force also causes the balloon to explode,” said Dr. Hai.

If someone has a hydrogen burn, the doctor recommends that the patient cool down with clean water for 15-20 minutes to relieve pain and reduce damage at the burn site.

Patients need to be taken to a medical facility as soon as possible for proper examination and treatment by doctors.
