Kim Jones has slowly pushed the boundaries of menswear, crafting stunningly accessible organza pieces, reinterpreting the “Saddle” bag, and creating a craze in the footwear market.

In the spring of 2023, Jones continued to pursue that path by partnering with Eli Russell Linnetz for a new capsule collection called “California Couture”.

Introduced as a first-time collaboration designed by Jones and Linnetz, the capsule collection was shown off at California’s Venice Beach, where the brand’s first venue is located. The runway was a mix of ERL x Dior models dressed in vibrant pastel satins, quilted jackets, Christmas tints and cozy semi-zip pullovers. Chunky gray cable sweatshirts are studded with finely placed white pearls, ’90s style jackets are reversed with outer lining to display the classic “CD” logo. , tuxedo pants with crystal studded side panels, and oversized denim shorts and pants treated with a light rhinestone effect.

While the collaborative accessories are paired with their respective suits, the accessory lineup is powerful enough to make its own show. The newly introduced “Saddle” mini bags, named “Male Minaudiere”, arrive in gold format and precious Christmas tinsel, satin and quilted sneakers, and enhanced beanies with pearl detailing and flap top.

Explaining the motivation behind the collaboration, Jones (Artistic Director of Dior Men) said: “We worked with a lot of different people on our collection, but this time I wanted to work. with another person in a different way. I wanted someone to look at Dior from a different angle. With Eli Russell Linnetz, not only do I enjoy his work, but working with a younger Dior Men designer and seeing things from his perspective, I feel incredibly inspired.”
