In addition, the Survey also provides the level of CBT per capita divided into 5 income groups, from group 1 (including the poorest 20% of the population) to group 5 (including the richest 20% of the population). Accordingly, across the country, the richest group of households has a net income per capita of 9.1 million VND/month, 8 times higher than the poorest group with an income of 1.1 million VND.

The region with the largest disparity between income groups is the Northern Midlands and Mountains, the highest income group has 9 times more natural resources than the lowest income group, and the Red River Delta is where the disparity is low. with 5.36 times.

Specifically, in the Northern Midlands and Mountains, the richest group of households has a net income per capita of 6.3 million VND/month while the income per capita of the poorest group of households is only 633,000 VND/month. In the Red River Delta, group 1’s income per capita is nearly 2 million VND/month, but group 5’s income is more than 10 million VND/person/month.

According to each province and city, Cao Bang is the locality with the highest disparity between income groups. Specifically, group 5 has a net income per capita of 5.9 million VND/month, 12.66 times higher than group 1 with an income of only nearly 500,000 VND/month.

Some other provinces with a difference of more than 10 times between the highest and lowest income groups are Quang Tri, Quang Binh, Son La and Yen Bai.

Meanwhile, City. Ho Chi Minh City is home to the lowest disparity between the two groups of the richest and the poorest households. The richest group of households has a net income per capita of 11.8 million VND/person/month, 3.5 times higher than the poorest group with an income of 3.4 million VND/person/month.

According to rural and urban areas, the gap in rural areas is quite high, nearly 8 times with the GDP per capita of group 1 only reaching 900,000 VND/month and group 5 reaching 7.4 million VND/month. According to the General Statistics Office, the rich-poor gap between the two income groups in urban areas tends to decrease from 7.2 times in 2019 to 5.3 times in 2020.
