The tough stance was taken by the Turkish side at a meeting with Swedish and Finnish officials yesterday.

According to the spokesman of the Presidential Palace Ibrahim Kalin, Turkey made clear about Turkey’s security concerns at the meeting. If these concerns are not met with concrete steps within a certain time frame, the two countries’ NATO accession process will not be able to progress.

Finland and Sweden have officially applied to join NATO, but Turkey has expressed objections because it believes that the two countries harbor objects related to organizations and armed groups that Turkey States considered a security threat.

In addition, Ankara is also dissatisfied with Finland and Sweden’s imposition of arms export restrictions on the country and refusal to extradite terrorist suspects.
