The old man from the US fulfilled his childhood dream by going back to school and getting his college diploma at the age of 88.
John Lenehan, 88 years old, is no stranger to many teachers, staff, and students at Fordham University.

The old man still regularly goes to the lecture hall to continue his university studies despite his advanced age. John Lenehan began studying at Fordham University in 1956.
But then, he dropped out of school because of difficult family circumstances, he had to return to work to earn money. When he stopped studying, he was 28 credits short to finish college.
After more than 6 decades, when John Lenehan had 6 children and 13 grandchildren, he decided to go back to school to finish university. He did not expect that not completing his university studies would become a great obsession in his life.
One morning after turning 86, the old man shared with his wife: “I want to go back to school, I want to go to Fordham University.”
“That’s a good idea,” replied Lillian Lenehan, his wife.
Then he and his family began to plan answers to the question of how to return to school. The family contacted the school asking if he could return to school again. Fortunately, the school agreed and Mr. John Lenehan continued to go to university to complete what was left unfinished before.

Recently, the 88-year-old man was able to wear a shirt and hat to attend the graduation ceremony, officially receiving a university degree.
Anthony Davidson, a representative of Fordham University, said: “At the age of 86, he is still going to school to complete his university studies. We are really lucky to have an inspirational figure in John Lenehan. wrote to us and said that this is the happiest day of his life, this is his wedding day.”
Mr. John Lenehan is the clearest evidence for the saying that age is never a barrier in learning and pursuing knowledge.
John Lenehan shared: “I really didn’t have any difficulty. In fact, learning took a little longer for me than when I was in my 20s. But I still did. Instead of just studying 3 hours a day, now I study 4-5 hours”.
