Cuc Phuong National Park cooperates with Vu Quang National Park to release 56 endangered animals to the natural environment.
In which, there are 20 large-headed turtles (scientific name is Platysternon megacephalum), 20 individuals of four-eyed turtles (scientific name is Sacalia quadriocellata), 11 individuals of pig-tailed monkeys (scientific name is Macaca Leonina), 02 fishes. python (scientific name is Python molurus), 2 individuals of king cobra (scientific name is Ophiophagus hannah), one individual cobra (scientific name is Naja kaouthia).
These are wild animals of group IB, rare animals listed in the Red Book of Vietnam and the world, and released into Vu Quang National Park.

Individuals are rescued from illegal trade and voluntarily surrendered by people. After receiving, the team of experts and technicians from Cuc Phuong National Park and the ATP Program treated, cared for, restored health, psychology and natural behavior for individuals.
Trinh Van Nguyen, Head of the Animal Rescue, Conservation and Development Team said: “Over time, these animals have met the necessary conditions, so they have been released into the forest.
The release of the above individuals aims to restore the animals’ natural behavior and instincts. These are animals suitable for habitat conditions, distributed in Vu Quang National Park. In addition, the separation of herds into different areas is to create efficiency in the conservation of wildlife species.
Cuc Phuong National Park’s cooperation with Vu Quang National Park to receive individuals of wild animals to the natural environment is part of the cooperation program in rescue and re-release of wild animals. After releasing wild animals to the natural environment, Vu Quang National Park will continue to monitor and protect them to ensure safety.”
It is known that Cuc Phuong National Park has carried out hundreds of re-releases with the number of thousands of individuals of many different species, in Cuc Phuong primeval forest and many other national parks and nature reserves across the country. .
Re-releasing wildlife back into the wild is also a core and practical activity of the “Going home” tour, organized by Cuc Phuong National Park from March 2021.
This tour has contributed to highlighting the achievements of forest management, care and protection, scientific research, education to raise awareness of nature conservation through ecotourism, especially from wildlife conservation and rescue.
