On May 27, the People’s Committee of Dong Nai province said that it had just issued a decision approving the implementation of the project “Investigation and distribution of status, herd structure, ecological characteristics, monitoring program of black-shanked douc species”. in Chua Chan Mountain” chaired by Dong Nai Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The survey results identified a population of black-shanked douc langurs at Chua Chan mountain (Xuan Loc district) consisting of 7 groups with about 159-192 animals. The langurs are developing quite well and are in the period of increasing numbers. Each flock recorded mature, semi-adult males and females, type 1, type 2 juveniles and newborns. The research process also recorded the phenomenon of separation and merging.
In addition, the researchers also identified 154 plant species that are food for black-shanked douc, accounting for 48.7% of the total plant species in the investigation area. No records of langurs eating bark, animals and insects…

Chua Chan mountain (also known as Gia Ray mountain or Gia Lao mountain, in Xuan Loc district, Dong Nai province) is the second highest mountain in the Southeast (after Ba Den mountain – Tay Ninh) with an altitude of 837m above sea level, slopes of 30-35 degrees, sometimes steep cliffs.
