Air filter cleaning process

We can completely clean the car engine air filter at home during our free weekend. The process of self-cleaning the car engine air filter is as follows:

Step 1: Locate the air filter in the engine compartment

The air filter is usually located behind the engine’s intake, just behind the grille. We just need to follow this pipe to get to the location of the engine air filter. Manufacturers usually place the air filter in a protective box designed to be round or square.

Step 2: Remove the air filter from the protective case

Depending on the manufacturer, the protective box is designed in the form of a holder or a screw. They are simply designed to be easily removed by hand or with a wrench. The air filter is located just below the protective box cover and we can take it out by hand.

Step 3: Clean the air filter

Use the steam nozzle to blow away the dirt on the air filter. Spray from inside to outside and from top to bottom. Note: Do not clean the air filter with water or any cleaning chemical solution. In addition, do not use a brush, broom or sharp object to clean the dirt on the air filter, as this may cause the filter membrane of the air filter to be torn and ineffective.

Step 4: Install the air filter back to the original position

Before installing the air filter back to the original position, we use a dry cloth to wipe away the dust and dirt inside the protective box. Then tighten the nuts or retainers as before.
