Prosecution of bank cadres appropriating more than 1.4 billion people’s money

According to the case file, in 2018 due to borrowing money from many people but unable to repay the debt, Hung arose with the intention of fraudulently appropriating other people’s money.
Hung has used his reputation as a bank officer to borrow money from many people to complete the debt maturity procedure for customers, after 3-5 days, he will refund the money with a part of the commission to thank the customer.
However, after receiving the money, Hung did not use it to repay the customer’s debt as per the initial commitment, but used it to repay the loan and for personal expenses. Although he could not repay the debt, in order not to be suspected, Hung took money from one person to transfer to another in the form of money transfer to customers who needed to be due at the bank.
By January 2019, Hung had fraudulently appropriated the money of 3 people with a total amount of more than 1.4 billion VND and then fled the locality.
During the investigation and verification process, Hung often changed his hiding place, until November 29, 2021, Hung was arrested while hiding in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City.
After being arrested, Hung confessed his entire crime, in accordance with the documents contained in the case file.
