Revealing the latest luxury car in a photo of Kim Jong Un

The image of the 2020 Lexus LX570 luxury car model appeared during the visit of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to the military base, attracting special attention from observers.

The latest LX570 appears in the photo released by KCTV.

According to NK News, the LX 570 is revealed in the distance, in a photo of Kim handing an AK-47 rifle to an army soldier. The photo was released by the Korean Central Television (KCTV) during Kim’s visit to the base on Changrin Island this week.

Observers noticed that this seems to be the latest 2020 Lexus LX570. It is not clear when and how the luxury car was imported into North Korea. Some of the LX570s used by the North Korean delegation in conference inter-Korean summit in September 2018, but it seems that the LX570 appearing in the latest photo is a completely new car.

The LX570 that appears in the photo resembles the latest 2020 version.

Also in 2018, Kim hosted US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Pyongyang. Mr. Kim disembarks from a Rolls Royce Phantom. By 2019, observers noticed that Kim had the latest Mercedes Mayback S600 Pullman Guard cars.

United Nations investigators at the time also outlined the path to importing luxury cars into North Korea, starting with the US. The UN Security Council’s North Korea sanctions prohibit the sale of luxury goods to North Korea, including luxury cars.
