Review of the worst school shootings in the US

One case shootings occurred at Robb elementary school in Uvalde city, Texas, USA on the afternoon of May 24 (local time), killing 18 students and 3 adults.

According to Reuters news agency, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the suspect, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, was also killed at the scene. Authorities have not revealed the killer’s motives, but say he acted alone.

The incident comes just 10 days after a shooting at Tops supermarket in Buffalo, New York, claimed the lives of 10 people.

After the shooting, US President Joe Biden asked people to stand up to fight gun violence and pressured members of Congress to pass gun control legislation.

“I was hoping that when I became president, I wouldn’t have to do this again. Today’s mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, is another massacre in America.”Mr. Biden said.

This is the deadliest school shooting in Texas history, according to ABC News.

Columbine High School Massacre (1999)

The Columbine High School Massacre occurred on April 20, 1999 at Columbine High School, Jefferson County, Colorado.

The shooting was carried out by two male students, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, killing 12 students and a teacher and injuring 24 others. The two perpetrators later committed suicide.

This is the fifth deadliest school shooting in US history. The incident has sparked a controversy over gun ownership and violence. However, many years have passed, so far there is no solution to this problem.

Virginia Polytechnic Survey (2007)

The Virginia Polytechnic University massacre, also known as the Virginia Tech massacre is a horrifying shooting incident, which occurred on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic University, in the Blacksburg area, Virginia, USA on April 16/ 2007.

After two separate attacks, each nearly 2 hours apart, the Korean gunman Seung Hui Cho killed 32 people and injured 33 others. Then the perpetrator committed suicide.

Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting (2012)

The incident happened on the morning of December 14, 2012 at Sandy Hook elementary school, Newtown town, Connecticut state, southern United States. The gunman, Adam Lanza, shot and killed 20 students and six adults before shooting himself.

Earlier on the same day, the perpetrator murdered his mother at the house where they lived.

It is the second deadliest school shooting in American school history, following the 2007 Virginia Polytechnic University massacre.

Shooting at Santa Fe High School (2018)

Ten people, including eight students, were killed in a shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas on May 18, 2018. According to a witness, the assailant, armed with a shotgun, entered an art classroom and started shooting.

After the tragedy, Texas Governor Greg Abbott made 40 recommendations, most of which focused on increasing armed security on school campuses and promoting mental health screening of students.

Around 2pm on February 14, 2018 (local time), a young man named Nicolas de Jesus Cruz, 19 years old, a former student of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, USA, was carrying a gun. school and opened fire from outside, then entered the school.
