Son-in-law fired more than 10 shots, controlling and arresting his mother-in-law

Defendant Nguyen Van Vuong in Kien Giang fired more than 10 shots, controlled and pointed a gun at his head to arrest his mother-in-law for several hours.

On May 25, the Go Quao District Police Department (Kien Giang) prosecuted defendant Nguyen Van Vuong (32 years old, living in Vinh Phuoc A commune) to investigate the act of “murder” and “stolen use of illegal military weapons”.

Previously, Vuong was prosecuted by the Go Quao District Police Department and detained for the act of “illegal detention”.

According to the investigation, in 2010, defendant Vuong and Ms. PTK (31 years old, living in the same area) fell in love. Because Ms. Tran Thi Em (67 years old, Ms. K.’s mother) disagreed, the two took each other to Ho Chi Minh City to work as hired laborers. The process of living together Vuong and sister K. have two children. Seeing that her daughter had left for Vuong, Mrs. Em was angry and did not accept Ms. K. as her child anymore.

About 2 years ago, Mrs. Em calmed down and accepted Ms. K. and her two grandchildren. With Vuong, she was still angry. During Tet, Vuong and his wife returned to their hometown to play. When he returned to Ho Chi Minh City, there was an argument because Vuong was jealous.

Being beaten, Ms. K. took her two children to her relatives’ house in Bac Lieu province to live, and at the same time filed for divorce. At this time, defendant Vuong went everywhere looking for his wife and children but could not find them, so he thought of a way to control Ms. Em to show the whereabouts of Ms.

Defendant Vuong ordered a handgun and 16 bullets online.

On the evening of April 9, Vuong broke into the house to control and arrest Ms. Em. Vuong forced Ms. Em to call Ms. K. to come home or he would kill her.

After that, Vuong called his wife and said, “If you don’t come back, I will kill your mother”, and then fired several shots at the TV and the roof with his gun.

Upon receiving the news, the functional forces came to the scene, urged and persuaded Vuong to drop the gun and release Mrs. After many hours of unsuccessful re-establishment, the functional forces broke the door and stormed in to arrest the accused Vuong.

At this time, Vuong shot a commune official in the stomach with a gun, but thanks to wearing armor, this person only suffered bruises on the skin.

Vuong controlled and pointed a gun at Ms. Em’s head, threatening to kill the victim if the authorities approached. To ensure the safety of the victim’s life, the authorities had to withdraw.

Seeing that the subject was still stubborn, the Board of Directors of the Kien Giang Provincial Police Department directed the Mobile Police force and professional units to the scene to coordinate with the Go Quao District Police to rescue the hostages.

The functional forces and relatives went to the scene to continue to persuade the accused Vuong but failed.

At around 9:30 a.m. on April 10, Vuong fired a shot, then pointed the gun at her head, leading Ms. Em to the street. Around 11 a.m. on the same day, Vuong’s biological mother called for her son to give up his gun and surrender. Taking advantage of the time when Vuong was talking on the phone with his biological mother, Mrs. Em escaped through the back door.

Knowing that he could not resist, Vuong gave up his gun and surrendered. Police seized a handgun as a military weapon, 14 cartridges and 3 unused bullets.
