Toyota Rush quietly withdrew from Vietnam, giving up the stage for Veloz Cross to fight Xpander

While Veloz Cross is integrating very well in the Vietnamese market, another model from the Toyota brand that silently says goodbye is Rush. On the homepage of Toyota Vietnam, Rush has officially disappeared from the product list. The agent side also confirmed this information.

Toyota Rush has been present in Vietnam market for 3 years.

This has been predicted before it was announced that Toyota would add Veloz Cross to the already “massive” MPV team in the Vietnamese market. The new Toyota Veloz Cross model has a modern design, many comfortable equipment and especially the Toyota Safety Sense safety technology package, while the price is not much different from the Rush. After Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio returned to the country, rumors that the duo Rush and Innova had to “wrap up” were also revealed by the agent.

Moreover, according to the sales report of Toyota Vietnam, Rush has not sold any units in both March and April of this year. Contrary to his elder brother, “rookie” Veloz Cross is performing very well with 649 cars sold in March and 967 cars in April, continuously approaching the top of Mitsubishi Xpander.

Veloz Cross seems to be the replacement for Rush’s position.

Toyota Rush launched in Vietnam in September 2018 with two other models, Avanza and Wigo. At that time, Toyota Rush had a version with a price of 668 million. In September 2020, Rush’s selling price was reduced to 34 million VND to 634 million VND.

Rush used to be called “little Fortuner” because the design has similar lines to the elder SUV model. The ground clearance of 220 mm is higher than most mid-range SUVs and below on the market. Some notable equipment on this model includes LED lighting, smart key, push button starter, automatic air conditioning, 7-inch touch screen and 8-speaker audio.

The car engine is a 4-cylinder, 1.5-liter capacity, for a capacity of 102 horsepower and 134 Nm of torque, combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The difference of Toyota Rush compared to 7-seater cars of the same price range is the removable chassis and rear-wheel drive system.

The safety equipment on this model is relatively complete with brake support (ABS, EBD, BA), electronic balance, traction control, support for horizontal departure, terrain speed selection, reverse sensor, reverse camera and 6 airbags. Compared to Veloz Cross, Rush is somewhat inferior in equipment.
