Kherson Oblast and Zaporizhia Oblast began allowing residents to switch to the +7 area code, the Crimean leader’s adviser on information policy, Oleg Kryuchkov, announced on May 27. He said Russian telecommunications companies have come to these areas for work.
“The provinces of Zaporizhia and Kherson are switching to the Russian phone area code +7. According to my information, new operators of telecommunications networks are working there,” Kryuchkov said in an interview with Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.
He also said that mobile packages of new telecommunications companies have begun to be sold in Kherson, the city of Melitopol and the Zaporizhia city of Berdyansk.
