Check out the most fuel-efficient cars in each segment

(PLO)- The fuel consumption of Mazda2, Toyota Corolla Cross, Suzuki Ertiga, Hyundai Tucson… is among the lowest in the segment.

At a time when gasoline prices set a new record in Vietnam, many car users always want to choose the model with the lowest fuel consumption in the segment.

On the afternoon of May 23, the Inter-Ministry of Finance – Industry and Trade implemented the cyclical management of gasoline prices. At this operating period, the price of gasoline was adjusted by the Inter-Ministry to increase the price with an increase of nearly 700 VND/liter. Specifically, the price of E5 gasoline increased by 680 VND/liter, to 29,630 VND/liter; A95 gasoline price increased by 670 VND/liter, to 30,650 VND/liter.

According to the Registry, the fuel consumption of Mazda2, Toyota Corolla Cross, Suzuki Ertiga, Hyundai Tucson… among the lowest in the segment. Below is a list of the most economical cars in each segment, counting only gasoline engines, mixed roads (in and out of urban areas).

Hatchback size A: Toyota Wigo MT – 5.31 liters / 100 km

Among the A-size urban cars, the 5-speed manual version Toyota Wigo has the lowest fuel consumption of only 5.31 liters per 100 km. Vehicles equipped with 4-cylinder engine, 1.2-liter capacity, capacity of 86 horsepower and traction 107 Nm.

However, compared to competitors in the same segment, Toyota Wigo has the lowest sales. For example, in April, this model only reached 33 cars and entered the top sellers of the month. Meanwhile, most of the other competitors have sales of over 1,000 vehicles VinFast Fadil achieved sales with 2,567 vehicles.

B-size sedan: Mazda2 – 4.62 liters / 100 km

Model Mazda2 imported from Thailand with the most optimal fuel consumption, about 4.62 liters / 100 km.

Engine mounted on Mazda2 type 1.5 liter 4-cylinder SkyActiv-G capacity of 110 horsepower, maximum torque of 144 Nm. All Mazda2 versions sold in Vietnam come with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

C-size sedan: Mazda3 – 5.9 liters / 100 km

The Mazda3 model also achieved the best fuel efficiency in the segment at only 5.9 liters per 100 km. This model is currently assembled domestically at Truong Hai’s factory, Chu Lai Industrial Park, Quang Nam province.

Hyundai Tucson is the model with the least “gas consumption” in the C-size Crossover segment. D-size sedan – Toyota Camry HV – 4.6 liters/100 km

With a hybrid engine that combines a 2.5 petrol engine and an electric motor, the Camry HV is a car that surprises many people as it is the most fuel-efficient car. However, this is the model chosen by Toyota to sell hybrid cars without external charging.

MPV : Suzuki Ertiga AT – 5.95 liters/100 km

Among the MPV models on the market, the Suzuki Ertiga is the most fuel-efficient model. The 1.5-liter engine version, with a capacity of 103 horsepower combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission, consumes less than 6 liters / 100 km. The manual version is slightly better with the figure of 6.11 liters / 100 km.

However, in recent months, Suzuki Ertiga has continuously had quite low sales, even in the past April, this model entered the list of the top selling cars of the month with 9 cars sold.

Suzuki Ertiga AT has a fuel consumption of 5.95 liters / 100 km. Crossover B/B+ : Toyota Corolla Cross – 4.2 liters/100 km

Toyota has an additional Corolla Cross model with even lower fuel consumption than B-sized low-rise sedans thanks to the Hybrid engine. The Japanese model combines a 1.8-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor with a CVT transmission.

Corolla Cross imported from Thailand, sold in Vietnam from the second half of 2020. The B+ CUV model has now surpassed Vios, becoming Toyota’s best-selling name in Vietnam in 2022.

Crossover size C : Hyundai Tucson – 6.68 liters / 100 km

Hyundai Tucson is a fuel-efficient car in the segment that also surprises many people. However, the Tucson is a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 180 horsepower and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Tucson only has one version of this engine, the remaining three versions all come with a 2-liter engine.

D-size crossover: Kia Sorento – 7.9 liters / 100 km

Selecting the D-size CUV model with the best fuel consumption belongs to the 2.5 petrol version of Kia Sorento. This engine of the car is combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission, a capacity of 177 horsepower, front-wheel drive.

D-size SUV: Toyota Fortuner 2.7 AT – 10.7 liters per 100 km

The most fuel-efficient version of Fortuner is fitted with a 2.7-liter gasoline engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, 2-wheel drive, capacity of 164 horsepower.

This list is for reference only for car buyers. According to experts, automobile fuel consumption is greatly influenced by other factors, such as road surface conditions when traveling, vehicle condition, driver’s driving habits and skills.
