According to Ms. Thao, over the past time, many teachers in the area have been repeatedly called by a number of people claiming to be from a financial company to collect debts. This group constantly texted and called to collect debt, causing the lives of some teachers to turn upside down. Thao was also constantly threatened even though she did not borrow money.

“They called constantly, sometimes claiming to be from a financial company, sometimes asking me to direct this or that woman to pay. They also said, if you can’t do it, quit your job,” Thao said.

According to Ms. Thao, due to the “terrorist” style of debt collection, many teachers had to quit their jobs because of too much pressure, some teachers even thought of committing suicide, fortunately the incident was discovered in time.

Ms. LTH (teacher of a preschool in Vinh city) said that in 2014, she took out an unsecured loan from a financial company belonging to a bank with 15 million dong to repair her house. According to the contract, this loan will be repaid within 24 months. However, after only 12 months of borrowing, she has fully paid off this debt. However, in 2017, Ms. H. suddenly received a phone call from debt collectors, informing her that she still owed 6 million dong. Feeling too unreasonable, Ms. H. suggested that these people come to her to work directly but were not met.

Since then, Ms. H and her relatives have been repeatedly threatened by phone calls and “terrorists”. “They called and said that I still owed 6 million dong, then 10 million dong. They have harassed me for the past 5 years, most recently they announced that the debt has reached 100 million VND”, said Ms. H. and said that not only her relatives, many teachers at her school were also punished because of her.

After that, Ms. H. had to change schools, but this group continued to stalk and call to “terrorize” teachers and principals at the new school to ask Ms. H. to pay. Over pressure, more than 1 month ago, Ms. H. decided to quit her job and change her phone number so as not to disturb her colleagues.

Faced with the above situation, recently, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training has asked the education departments and units under the department to report the list of officials and teachers who have been “terrorized” to collect debts to the department, so that the department can transfer it to the department. investigation and handling by police.

Nghe An Department of Education and Training also requires officials, teachers and employees not to borrow money from lending groups through social networking sites, phone numbers, leaflets, loan apps of unknown origin. or through intermediate objects.
