The three-wheeler caused a hole in the surface of the Long Bien bridge
A 3-wheeled vehicle carrying heavy goods caused a large hole with a diameter of 1.2 x 0.6 m on the surface of the Long Bien bridge (Hanoi).
On the afternoon of May 28, Traffic Police Team No. 1, Traffic Police Department (Hanoi City Police) said, after discovering a large hole on Long Bien Bridge, heading from the Hang Dau – Tran Nhat Duat junction (Hoan Kiem District) to Ngoc Lam (Long Bien district), the unit informed the Bridge Management Board and sent officers and soldiers to lock and separate the channel.
Earlier at about 10 am on the same day, a heavy-duty trailer passed through here, causing a hole about 1.2 x 0.6m in size. After receiving the information, Ha Hai Railway Joint Stock Company (bridge management unit – PV) quickly completed this problem.
Regarding the cause of the collapse, the heavy-duty three-wheeler passed through the weak position of the steel bar supporting the road surface. The condition of the steel bars is rotten inside, not visible to the naked eye, so even though the unit periodically checks it, it can’t be detected.
Before that, on May 4, also on Long Bien bridge, the pedestrian part of the road also broke a woven sheet, forming a big hole, seeing the parts and structure of the bridge below. Immediately after detection, the problem was also quickly fixed.
