South Korea’s Maeil Economic Daily reports that Samsung has informed its partners to cut smartphone production for the rest of 2022. Initially, the company planned to produce about 310 million smartphones for the whole year, but has now reduced it. about 280 million devices left.

Notably, the news comes just a day after Bloomberg said Apple will not increase production this year, expected to assemble only 220 million iPhones. Analysts previously forecast that “apple defect” will produce about 240 million iPhones.

Samsung and Apple have reason to be cautious. Samsung cites the fact of rising inflation as the main reason for the reduction in output, especially as it affects consumer spending on new products. In addition, the global semiconductor crisis continues to affect everyone from Samsung to Apple. Finally, instability surrounding the Ukraine war and economic problems in Russia also affected the market.

Last month, research firm Stratagy Analytics released a report, showing that Samsung has a 24% share of the global smartphone market, the highest level in more than five years. Much of the success is due to strong demand for the Galaxy S22 series, especially the expensive S22 Ultra model. Among the smartphone models that will be launched in the second half of this year, the most prominent will be the two folding screen models Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4.
