Details of the entire time of the horrific shooting at Texas elementary school

The timeline of the entire incident occurred on May 24 (local time)

After 11 am – Ramos shot his grandmother in the face, according to Texas Director of Public Safety Steve McCraw.

Gilbert Gallegos, 82, who lives across the street from the Ramos family, heard gunfire in his yard. He ran to the front and saw Ramos speeding up in a pickup, while Ramos’ grandmother was walking towards him begging for help.

“The old woman is covered in blood,” said Gallegos. Gallegos’ wife called the police to report the shooting.

11:27 am – A teacher, whose identity has not been released by the authorities, is opening the door outside the school, McCraw said.

11:28 am – Ramos crashed the pickup truck into the drainage ditch behind the school, McCraw said. Two men at a nearby funeral home heard the crash and ran outside to see what had happened. The school police officer who was on duty that day was not on campus at this time, contrary to previous reports, McCraw said May 27. The officer drove to the school “immediately” after receiving a 911 call and approached someone at the back of the school he thought was the gunman. As the officer darted towards the man, the man turned out to be a teacher.

11:32 am – Ramos fired multiple shots at the school and then walked towards the open door.

11:33 am – Five minutes after crashing the pickup, Ramos entered the school and began shooting at two adjoining classrooms, 111 and 112, McCraw said. In total he fired more than 100 rounds.

11:35 am – Three police officers entered the school through the same door Ramos used, followed by four other officers, McCraw said, a total of seven officers who entered the building. McCraw said two officers were injured by Ramos’ bullets.

11:37 am – The gunfire continued, a total of 16 rounds were fired, McCraw said. It is not clear who shot.
