Recently, Hoa Sen University (HSU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Hanoi National University, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City organized a talk show with the theme “Fintech & Ho Chi Minh City”. Smart City”. This is an activity within the FinnoBox Talk show series of the Finnovation 2022 contest taking place at universities in all three regions from May 10 to early June 2022.
The event attracted a large number of young people from universities with the presence of experienced experts in the field of Fintech and Smart City such as: Dr. Trinh Cong Duy, Director of the University Software Development Center Da Nang, co-head of Techfest 2021 Smart Urban Village; Ms. Le Tuyet Mai, CMO of Bizverse (Former CMO of Vinpearl, Vinfast, Vinhomes); Dr. Ngo Ngoc Quang, a financial expert at Foreign Trade University; Dr. Alex Pham (Pham Anh Khoi), PhD in real estate in Australia with more than 10 years of experience working in Australia; Dr. Phung Thai Minh Trang, Dean of Faculty of Finance and Banking – Hoa Sen University.
At the talk show, students answered many questions such as: The concept of Digital twin, Fintech and their application to Smart City development.

Trinh Cong Duy said that Fintech investment is booming, financial business has its own characteristics because this is the industry that determines the economic destiny of a country. The Fintech industry is also an industry that never dies. Maybe technology in other industries will at some point be regressed, replaced by another technology, but the financial industry will not die because society will be run by cash flows. Instead of being transacted in the traditional form, Fintech brings transactions using modern technology, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. The benefits and potential of Fintech are undisputed, Fintech will reduce costs and increase convenience for users.
The potential that Fintech brings is great, but many young people express their concerns about embedded finance?; Does Fintech cause workers in some industries to be laid off? Or as Vietnam’s population is an aging population, can the current young human resources meet the quality of labor for the Fintech industry?…
Explaining this issue, Dr. Phung Thai Minh Trang said, in terms of education, Hoa Sen University is the first non-public school with Fintech major up to now. In the trend of the digital age, it is very necessary to train a graduate with full core knowledge and expertise.
