Heavy rain in Hanoi, water flooded the wheels
The heavy rain lasted for nearly 3 hours, causing many inner city streets to be flooded and traffic stalled, on the afternoon of May 29.
The inner districts of Hanoi all recorded heavy rain from about 13:30 and continued until after 16:30 before it gradually stopped.
In the district Cau GiayFlooding was recorded on Xuan Thuy, Ho Tung Mau, Hoa Bang, Nguyen Van Truong streets… In which, the deepest was on Hoa Bang road, flooded with car wheels. Mai Dich overpass underpass flooded about 30 cm, vehicles could not move, leading to congestion.

Ring road section passing Keangnam building and Le Duc Tho street section passing My Dinh stadium square (Nam Tu Liem) turns into “river”. Some motorcyclists fell under the waves created by cars. Less than a kilometer away, at the Phu Do overpass, many cars ran in the opposite direction to avoid flooding and fallen trees on the road to collect Thang Long Avenue.

Nguyen Trai – Nguyen Tuan junction (Youth) traffic stopped because many vehicles to the beginning of the flooded point had to stop. Some cars stalled in the middle of the water, forcing people to push them out of the flooded area.
The Tay Son routes, the section through the intersections of Thai Ha, Phung Khoang, Nguyen Xien, Vuong Thua Vu, and Nguyen Trai (the section through the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) were flooded by about 10-20 cm, and traffic stalled.

Thuy Khue Street, the section passing Chu Van An High School (West Lake) flooded about 30 cm, more than 200 m long. Traffic on Nguyen Van Cu Street, section to Chuong Duong Bridge (Long Bien) is also hindered by waterlogging.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Cau Giay district had the heaviest rain of nearly 170 mm within two hours, followed by Tay Ho 150 mm, Hoang Mai 120 mm. Nam Tu Liem, Thanh Xuan, Ba Dinh and Thanh Tri districts receive more than 100 mm of rain. The cause of the rain is the impact of a low-pressure trough with an axis passing through the North, which has been causing rain for many days in the North.
