Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, Rublev advance to round 4 Roland Garros
On May 28, the final matches in the third round of the French Open tennis tournament took place. In the men’s singles event, the top seeded players showed their level to win the right to advance.
Second seed Daniil Medvedev made his way to the fourth round of the French Open after a convincing 3-0 victory over Miomir Kecmanovic, the scores of the sets were 6-2, 6-4 and 6-2, respectively. Medvedev’s next opponent will be Marin Cilic. Equally easy was the fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, who beat Mikael Ymer 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 in just 1 hour and 36 minutes.
The 3-0 victories also went to other strong players such as 11th seed Jannik Sinner in the match against Mackenzie McDonald, and 12th seed Hubert Hurkacz in the match against David Goffin. Andrey Rublev and Casper Ruud were the two big names that had the most difficulties yesterday.
7th seed Rublev needed 4 sets to subdue Cristian Garin, in which, the tie-break in the 4th set alone lasted nearly 30 minutes. And the 8th seed Casper Ruud had to go through 5 tense sets to overcome Lorenzo Sonego.
Thus, 9 of the top 10 seeded players will all participate in the fourth round of the men’s singles of the French Open this year.
