The Cupertino company said that both current and new employees will work in four floors. While it is uncertain how many employees will be added, it is expected that most of the facility will be home to new employees. According to RTE, the project is being targeted for completion in 2025.

Cork campus will become more sustainable

The expansion of the Cork campus also includes staff shuttle service and green communal spaces at the Hollyhill campus. RTE also says the building will run on 100% renewable energy and have solar panels on all new structures, including the walkways.

The area also features a new Commute Hub with storage for bicycles and scooters, as well as electronic charging points. This effort is to encourage employees to walk or ride bicycles, limiting motorized vehicles.

Apple has been operating in Ireland since 1980 and now has 6,000 employees in the country. Over the past five years, the company has spent $268 million expanding its Cork campus.
