Normally, this will leave a huge technology gap that a country without domestic digital platforms will not be able to fill. This fact makes the governments of many countries start to take a more cautious view, in order to avoid dependence on cross-border platforms.

Talking to VietNamNet about the story of how to avoid dependence on technology, Mr. Hoang Viet Tien – Strategy Consultant Director of Insider Group said that, with today’s huge number of customers, Vietnam will definitely considered as a potential destination of Facebook as well as other Big Tech.

When GAFA expands its financial activities in the territory of Vietnam, this will pose problems in terms of management policy.

It is necessary to study the management trends of countries around the world towards the activities of Big Tech such as GAFA, in order to suggest some content for building management policies for these target groups.

Vietnam is currently evaluated as one of the countries with the highest Internet usage and development speed in the world.

After 20 years of Internet appearance in Vietnam (since 1997), we have more than 60 million Internet users, of which Facebook alone has nearly 50 million users.

At the same time, the State of Vietnam also creates conditions to form some of its own social networks or links between Vietnam and other countries. For example, the previous Zalo, Lotus, Gapo or Zingme network …

According to Mr. Hoang Viet Tien: “It shows that social networks are very popular in Vietnam. Freedom of the press, freedom to present opinions and use of social networks in Vietnam are in line with the development of the world, the region as well as the development of the country.”

This expert said that the measures being taken by the government recently, both meet the requirements of opening up to the world, but also avoid dependence on foreign digital platforms.

Recently, the Ministry of Information and Communications has actively implemented the program Make in Vietnam. This is a term to convey the strategy, summons and shift in development direction of Vietnamese digital technology enterprises.

With “Make in Vietnam”, the Ministry of Information and Communications wants to have a strong shift from assembly and processing to creativity and design proactively, from which to launch Vietnamese digital technology products.

In the process of implementing national strategies to develop digital government, digital economy and digital society, the Ministry of Information and Communications also emphasized the need to popularize digital platforms: e-commerce, online teaching, support for health counseling. health care, online public services… to serve the people’s essential needs and production and business activities.

According to the director of strategic consulting at Insider Group, the programs implemented by the Ministry of Information and Communications are showing positive signs.
