10 schools with the highest rate of entering class 10 in Hanoi

On May 30, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the number of registrations for the 10th grade public high school exam in the 2022-2023 school year. The match ratio of each school is the result of total number of students registered wish 1 divide by targets of that school.

According to this calculation, Yen Hoa High School has a match ratio of 1/3.03, the highest ever. In 2022, Yen Hoa school reduced its target from 720 to 675, contributing to the school’s highest competition rate in the city.

In previous years, the leading position usually belonged to Chu Van An High School. However, with a rate of 2.87, the school ranked second this year, right above Son Tay High School (3rd place) with a rate of 2.73. Chu Van An and Son Tay are two high schools with specialized classes, so students are recruited throughout the city. This advantage helps the two schools receive a very high number of 1 candidates, always appearing in the group with the highest match ratio.

Nhan Chinh High School ranked fourth with a rate of 2.53, followed by Le Quy Don-Ha Dong High School 2.51. The remaining five positions belonged to the schools My Dinh, Khuong Ha, Tran Hung Dao-Ha Dong, Phan Dinh Phung, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, with the ratio ranging from 2.49-2.33.

Compared to 2021, Kim Lien High School – a familiar face of the top 5 – did not appear in the top 10 this year. The school has a ratio of 1.94 to 1.94, ranked 17th. The level of competition to enter Kim Lien school is less intense partly due to the increase in the quota from 675 to 765, while the number of registered candidates is not too volatile.

Along with Kim Lien, Cau Giay High School is also not in the top 10. This school has a match ratio of 2.31, ranking 11.

Schools with fierce competition are located in 12 inner city districts. In which, area 3 (Cau Giay, Dong Da, Thanh Xuan) has three schools in the top 10, area 10 (Chuong My, Ha Dong, Thanh Oai) has two schools and is located in Ha Dong district.

On the other hand, eight high schools have a match ratio of less than 1, which means that the number of registered candidates is less than the target. Accordingly, in theory, all registered students will be admitted if they do not violate the exam regulations. These schools include Dai Cuong, Minh Ha, Bac Luong Son, Xuan Khanh, Minh Quang, Bat Bat, Ba Vi, and Tu Lap.

In the school year 2021-2022, Hanoi has about 129,000 students considering graduating from secondary school, an increase of 19,000 compared to last year. In which, about 104,000 children have the opportunity to continue their high school education (77,000 public and 27,000 private). The remaining 25,000 children will enter vocational and continuing education institutions. The time for the 10th grade entrance exam takes place in two days, June 18-19.
