Police in New Delhi, India have arrested 3 men, discovering that they used high-tech gadgets to steal cars. According to the police, the theft was inspired by the series Fast & Furious.

After the theft, the car is left in an area where there is no surveillance camera until it is found and sold.

Among the devices found were a sensor, a magnet, a key-breaking tool, a GPS disabling device and eight remote car keys (key fobs), according to NDTV channel. These guys have managed to hack and fool the system on the car that the fake key fobs are the owners.

Security researcher Sultan Qasim Khan once shared with Bloomberg that by directing the signal between the user’s phone, or any other remote control device (key fob), an attacker can trick the login system into thinking the vehicle owner is in close range.

According to the information that the Indian media has described so far, the stolen cars are mainly popular cars such as Maruti (Suzuki) Brezza, Maruti (Suzuki) Swift, Hyundai Venue and Hyundai Creta. However, Autoevolution also notes that this method of theft can also be applied to luxury cars.
