Former Chairman of Lien Chieu District arrested for taking bribes

On the afternoon of May 30, the Da Nang City Police Investigation Agency handed over the decision to prosecute the accused and arrest him for 4 months in detention for Mr. Dam Quang Hung (former Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lien Chieu district, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Parks) on accepting bribes.

Previously, on May 11, the Standing Board of Da Nang City Party Committee held a conference to review and discipline Mr. Dam Quang Hung. After considering the proposal of the Inspection Committee of Da Nang City Party Committee, the Standing Board of the Da Nang City Party Committee found that during the time of holding the position of Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lien Chieu District (March 2018), Mr. Dam Quang Hung violated regulations on what party members cannot do.

Specifically, Mr. Hung violated his responsibility to set an example of cadres and party members, first of all, key leaders at all levels; violate the law on anti-corruption. Mr. Hung’s violation is serious, adversely affecting the reputation of the Party organization.

Based on the content, nature, extent and consequences of Mr. Hung’s violation and according to the Party’s Regulations on disciplining party members who violate, the Standing Board of Da Nang City Party Committee decided to take the form of discipline. Mr. Dam Quang Hung from all positions in the Party.

As reported by the Public Security Newspaper, in 2021, the Da Nang City Public Security Bureau reported to the Da Nang City Party Committee that Mr. Hung was accused of directly receiving 300-500 million VND and promised to issue a “red book” for the land lot. Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Dung, born in 1974, lives in Thanh Binh ward, Hai Chau district. However, Mr. Hung later refunded Ms. Dung 300 million dong because his subordinates reported that the plot of land was not eligible for a “red book”.

Regarding the above case, the Da Nang City Police Department of Investigation and Investigation prosecuted and detained Tran Thi Phuong Dung and Ton That Huy Minh for the act of “forging seals and documents of agencies and organizations”. to sell this land lot to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, an overseas Vietnamese from Belarus. Because Dung and Minh could not do the “red book” as committed, Ms. Huong reported it to the Public Security Agency. From here, Mr. Hung’s bribery was exposed.

The case is being further investigated and expanded.
