Nearly 80% of domain names showing signs of violation are international domain names

Information from the state management agency said that, in the field of Internet resource management, in May, the Ministry of Information and Communications, directly the Vietnam Internet Center (VNNIC) coordinated with relevant authorities to provide information 47 domain names to handle violations, including 42 international domain names. Notably, when implementing the task of reviewing and handling domain names with signs of e-commerce violations, banks… were assigned by the Ministry of Information and Communications in the Directive on development orientation of the ICT industry in 2022 and In the period of 2022 – 2024, VNNIC has detected more than 450 domain names with signs of violation, of which there are 357 international domain names, accounting for nearly 80%.

At a recent online conference with international domain name registrars in Vietnam, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director of VNNIC emphasized: The promotion of market development and Internet domain name business needs to To ensure the management work to minimize the cases of violations in the network environment originating from international domain names.

Management will be carried out in the spirit of equality and synchronization between the national domain .VN and international domain names, especially the management of profile information, domain name data, and principles in registration use as well as sanctions for violations.

“VNNIC will accompany international domain name registrants to both create favorable conditions for business activities and improve the efficiency of state management of Internet resources in Vietnam, contributing to the secure development of Vietnam. the whole Internet of Vietnam”, shared Ms. Tran Thi Thu Hien.

According to VNNIC, Internet violations stemming from the use of international domain names registered across borders are very common, while identifying infringers and applying measures to prevent violations are still common. difficult. In the coming time, sanctions and measures to manage cross-border activities will be strengthened to further ensure the management and use of domain names of Vietnamese organizations and individuals.

VNNIC’s statistics show that, as of May 15, the number of newly registered .VN domains in the first five months of this year reached 53,236, bringing the accumulated number of .VN domains to 552,365, up 4%. compared with the same period last year. Regarding international domain names, by the end of May 15, there were 525,092 international domain names registered and used in Vietnam.
