The Shenzhou 14 man-carrying spacecraft mounted on a Long March 2F rocket was delivered to the launch pad at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China on May 29, according to the Manned Space Engineering Administration of China. (CMSEO).

Shenzhou 14 will carry three astronauts to the Tianhe core module of the Tiangong space station in June for a six-month mission, according to Huang Weifen, chief designer of the space project’s astronaut systems division. Chinese manned.

The rocket and spacecraft duo, weighing 39 tons and measuring nearly 60 meters in total, slowly left the final assembly test building and approached the launch tower after traveling 1.5 kilometers on the constructed track. especially for anti-vibration. After about 1.5 hours, the rocket and spacecraft moved closer to the launch tower and the rotating deck closed.

All vehicles and equipment at the launch center are in good condition. Multiple functional tests and combined tests prior to launch will be conducted as scheduled. Zhang Fusheng, chief designer of the manned spacecraft system, said they will complete the final assembly and all testing including injecting the propellant. They will also perform large-scale system interface testing of the missile system.

A total of 6 space missions will take place in 2022 to complete the construction of Thien Cung space station, forming a T-shaped complex in October. After launching the Tianzhou 4 cargo spacecraft in May and the Shenzhou 14 manned spacecraft in June, the Wentian experimental module will pair with the Tianhe core module in July and the Mengtian experimental module in October. The cargo ships Tianzhou 5 and Shenzhou 15 will then fly to the station, bringing the next three astronauts to work at the station for 6 months. In addition, China also plans to launch the Xuntian telescope (CSST) in 2023.
