Nguyen Huy Hoang (born in 2000 in Thanh Tien village, Tien Hoa commune (Tuyen Hoa district, Quang Binh), a village on the banks of the Gianh river. Hoang is the youngest child in a family of 6 brothers, whose parents are fishermen.

From a young age, Huy Hoang loved to swim and struggled on the Gianh River after the times he and his father went to pick up seaweed to make fish food.
