Vietnamese youth say no to cigarettes and e-cigarettes

World Smoke-Free Day (May 31) and National Smoke-Free Week 2022 with the theme “Tobacco – A Threat to Our Environment”. The Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund (Ministry of Health) and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee cooperated with Vital Strategies to launch a video clip creation contest with the theme “Vietnamese youth say no to tobacco and e-cigarettes for protection health and the environment” on the Tiktok application from May 28, 2022 to the end of June 28, 2022.

This event is part of a series of communication activities to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of using conventional tobacco products as well as new tobacco products (e-cigarettes, heated cigarettes….), and contribute to the achievement of the goal of reducing the smoking rate among Vietnamese youth by encouraging young people’s creative ideas.

Young people participated in the contest by composing short clips (30-60 seconds) to convey the theme “Vietnamese youth say no to cigarettes and e-cigarettes to protect health and the environment”. , as well as expressing creativity, inspiration, suitable for teenagers.

Entries can be submitted individually or as a group and posted publicly on the TikTok app with the hashtags #ThanhnienVietNam, #khonghutthuocla,#baovesuckhoe, #baovemoitruong; tagged with @vn0khoithuoc account of the Contest Organizing Committee, and at least 5 other accounts. Each contestant individual/group can upload multiple entries and clips are encouraged to fully convey the messages, the relationship between tobacco and e-cigarette use, health and the living environment.

The Organizing Committee expects the time to announce the results and award the contest prizes in the middle of July, 2022.
