Young man’s ‘little boy’ contracted gonorrhea after first oral sex

A young man working in information technology went to the Hanoi Medical University Hospital for a checkup because his ‘little boy’ suddenly oozed pus after an oral relationship with a new girlfriend.

He said a month ago he made an online acquaintance with a girl claiming to be a student. After 2 weeks of chatting online, feeling sympathy, the two decided to meet in person.

At the first meeting, the female friend decided to have “oral” sex for this young man.

After only 3 days, he showed symptoms of painful urination and penile discharge, and immediately went to a gynecologist. Test results showed that the patient was infected with gonorrhea bacteria.

Gonorrhea is a very common infection, especially among young people between the ages of 15-24. It can cause infections of the external genitalia, rectum, and throat. Gonorrhea bacteria can be spread through anal, vaginal, or oral sex with someone who has gonorrhea.

Doctor Dao Huu Ghi, Head of Men’s Skin Diseases Department, National Hospital of Dermatology, said that 7 out of 10 cases of gonorrhea infection are infected through oral sex.

Pregnant women with gonorrhea can pass the infection on to their babies during childbirth.

This disease can also be spread through open wounds or contact with mucus, pus of an infected person when sharing personal items, but the rate is very low.

Recently, a number of medical facilities such as the Central Hospital of Dermatology have received about 100 patients to check for sexually transmitted diseases such as genital warts, gonorrhea, syphilis, genital herpes… Numbers This is said to be an increase compared to the previous one.

It is worth mentioning that information and knowledge about the transmission of social diseases through oral sex has been available for a long time, but few people think that they will be infected in a similar situation, so it is still very subjective. mandarin.

Doctor Ghi shared, many people when they receive the results of gonorrhea are very surprised because they think that only having sex through the genitals can get it, not thinking that just “relaxing” with the mouth can spread this bacteria.

With gonorrhea, some men may have no symptoms at all, but in men who do, it may be a burning sensation when urinating; white, yellow, or green discharge from the penis.

Some people also experience pain or swelling in the testicles, although this is uncommon.

In men, gonorrhea can cause pain in the vas deferens. Complications of male infertility are rare.

Women can also get gonorrhea, but most have no symptoms. Some people experience pain or burning when urinating; increased vaginal discharge or vaginal bleeding between menstrual cycles.

Gonorrhea if detected early, treatment is quite simple and can be cured. However, many patients are shy and embarrassed, so they buy drugs for treatment on their own, or get treatment in private clinics without expertise. They go to a specialized hospital when the disease has complications.

Doctors note that gonorrhea is mainly a sexually transmitted disease, so treatment must be carried out for both.
