How to answer 6 super difficult questions of employers when applying for a job – Young people

Questions like “What are your weaknesses”… often confuse many people when going for an interview. And here’s how to answer them properly.

“What are your weaknesses?”

Don’t joke about your weaknesses, admit them honestly. The best thing for a recruiter is to know how you’ve turned your weakness into an advantage. For example, a year ago, your English was pretty bad, but you signed up for language courses and can now speak English fluently. There are no perfect people and employers will appreciate your approach to maturity: acknowledge your imperfections and what you did to fix them.

“How would your co-workers describe you?”

Maybe people often say co-workers praise you, but you shouldn’t. The employer’s goal is to find out if the candidate can reasonably evaluate themselves from the outside. You can answer the question in the following way, “I think people appreciate … in me the most,” and list your strengths in between. Are you always ready to help when a coworker can’t do something? This answer won’t look like it’s bragging, but at the same time, it’s another opportunity to show off your best.

“If you were a fruit, what would you be?”

The purpose of these abstract questions is to see the candidate’s reaction to them in real time. Will they be confused, ignore the question, or say they don’t understand the question? All of these can show an employer how a potential employee will behave in unexpected workplace situations. There is no right answer for this type of question. It doesn’t matter whether you choose oranges or apples (however, if you name some unusual fruit, employers may appreciate your thinking). The most important thing is not to start feeling nervous but to respond calmly, smiling and explaining your answer.

“Describe yourself in one word”

You can use both adjectives and nouns to describe yourself. Don’t pick them at random but choose them based on your future location. If you’re aiming for a manager position, use some words like “leader”, “extrovert”, “realistic”.

“If we stopped paying you, would you continue working with us?”

Often, candidates answer “yes” because they think this is exactly what the potential employer is expecting from them – full dedication and commitment. In fact, things are a little different – employers may want to find an employee who knows the value of their specialized skills. That is why the correct answer is “not really”.

“Do you have any questions for me?”

This question usually ends the interview. It’s perfect if you prepare in advance and decide what to ask the employer about. Don’t ask questions about things you can easily find answers to in the job description or on the company’s website. You can ask why the previous employee in this position is leaving – this will help you achieve 2 purposes: you will demonstrate analytical skills and will be able to avoid the mistakes of predecessor when you start work.
