Pineapple trees are planted in the growing season, so they bear fruit all year round, and the selling price is relatively stable. At the highest, pineapple prices reach 10,000-11,000 VND per fruit.
The people of the pineapple village said that their ancestors brought the pineapple tree to grow here for nearly a hundred years. The name Cau Duc pineapples originates from the old days, people transported pineapples in the field to a cement-cast bridge across the Cai Lon river (current Cai Tu bridge) to sell, and from there the name Cau Duc cluster was born.

Cau Duc pineapples have short stalks, small cores, convex eyes, sweet and crispy taste. From fresh pineapple fruit, people process many products such as: colored water, wine, jam, juice… In addition to distributing to other provinces, most of Cau Duc pineapples are supplied to fruit juice processing factories. trees in Hau Giang and Can Tho.
According to Mr. Vu Suoi (50 years old, director of Thanh Thang Cooperative) in Hoa Tien commune, the cooperative currently has 39 members with a total area of over 110 hectares, meeting VietGAP standards, and is being upgraded to standard standards. This year, fertilizer prices are too high, so farmers’ profits decrease. Each pineapple plant fertilizes three bags of NPK fertilizer at a cost of 4.5 million VND while the price of pineapple is not really the best, currently at about 7,000 VND per fruit. However, at this price, growers still make a profit of about 50%.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Doan, Vice Chairman of Hoa Tien Commune People’s Committee, said that the local area is alum contaminated all year round, only pineapple trees grow well on this soil. For many years, pineapple tree has been the economic spearhead of the commune. More than 80% of the local agricultural land has been prioritized to grow this tree.
