More than 63,000 new cars were shipped in May, the market is about to run out of “beer with peanuts” scene?

Meanwhile, the number of domestically manufactured and assembled cars is estimated at 44,500 units in May 2022, up 13.2% compared to 39,300 units of the previous month and 17.6% over the same period in 2021. .

Thus, in May 2022, the market had about 63,500 new cars shipped to serve consumers. It can be seen that the number of newly released cars ready to serve consumers is quite abundant, hoping to be able to meet the market’s demand for cars.

Currently, the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) as well as car manufacturers have not announced sales in May. Data for April 2022 shows the sales volume of the whole market in last month reached 42,359 vehicles, including 33,588 tourist cars; 7,795 commercial vehicles and 776 specialized vehicles. Vehicles all grew well, of which passenger car sales increased by 18%; commercial vehicles increased by 2.6% and specialized vehicles increased by 15% compared to the previous month.

Sales of domestically assembled cars reached 25,269 units, up 16% from the previous month and the sales of imported complete units were 17,090 units, up 13% from the previous month. This month, some “hot” car models have not escaped the situation of insufficient supply and demand, so customers still have to wait a long time or buy at a higher price than the listed price. Total sales of the whole market by the end of April 2022 increased by 31% compared to 2021.

May is the last month that the preferential policy of 50% reduction in registration fees for locally assembled and manufactured cars is applied. The preferential policy has been shown to work to help “rescue the market” when it was applied in 2020. However, in this application, there have been many factors affecting the market such as disruption. supply chain disruption, leading to manufacturers reducing output, the number of vehicles supplied to the market is scarce, both assembled and imported cars are affected.

In addition to imported and newly assembled cars to serve the market, in May the automakers also introduced a number of new models and versions. The A-class model Kia Morning launched two more versions of AT and AT Premium, bringing more options to customers when choosing to buy this model. Thus, Kia Morning being sold in Vietnam has 4 versions, two new versions AT, AT Premium and two current versions, X-Line and GT-Line.

In addition, the market also received many new models such as Toyota Fortuner 2022, Mazda CX-8 2022 6-seat version, upgraded BMW X4, especially the upgraded version of Beijing X7. Some models that attract the market’s attention such as Honda HR-V, Mitsubishi Xpander are expected to officially launch an upgraded version soon.

The car shortage is not expected to end immediately, but will ease in the last 6 months of the year. Currently, some best-selling cars can still be sold at prices higher than the listed prices, such as Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Creta, Ford Explorer, Ford Ranger, Toyota Raize, KIA Seltos…
