On May 31, Viet Duc Hospital said that it had just received a 35-year-old male patient in Bac Ninh with a testicle rupture after a soccer game.

Doctor Nguyen Duy Khanh, Center for Andrology, Viet Duc Hospital, said that the patient was admitted to the hospital in a state of swollen, bruised right testicle, large hematoma in the right scrotum, and a normal left testicle.

Ultrasonography showed a continuous loss of parenchyma in the lower third of the right testicle. During surgery, there were about 300 blood clots in the right scrotum, the right testicle ruptured in two locations, 2×3 cm and 1x2cm, with 50% loss of parenchyma. The doctors took the hematoma, stopped the bleeding, and preserved the right testicle.

The male patient shared that the accident happened during a football game. While playing football, he was suddenly kicked by his opponent in the private area, causing sharp pain. When he returned home, the patient applied cold compresses on his own but did not help. One day after the accident, the pain and swelling increased, so I went to Viet Duc Hospital for examination.

After 3 days of surgery, the patient is stable and has just been discharged from the hospital.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang – Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Sex Medicine, Director of the Center for Andrology, Viet Duc Hospital, said that sports accidents that cause scrotal injury and testicular rupture are very common, especially are combat sports such as martial arts, football, etc.

Notably, many cases of delaying treatment when experiencing testicular trauma lead to infection of the scrotum, adhesions, and abscess formation inside the trauma area, which is more severe than patients at risk of having to have orchiectomy. , persistent pain that accompanies a lifetime.

Doctors recommend, when experiencing pelvic injuries, people need to see a doctor soon. When playing sports like footballvolleyball, rugby, badminton… Men also need to wear protective gear to protect their “little boy”, avoiding unfortunate injuries.
