Sam Burns Wins Charles Schwab Challenge Golf Tournament

The final race of the Charles Schwab Challenge 2022 took place attractively between Sam Burns and Scottie Scheffler – golfer is currently ranked number 1 in the world.

Before entering the fourth round, Scheffler was tipped to win his fifth PGA Tour title of the season, as he led with an -11 total.

However, Scheffler’s performance on the last day was not as expected. He scored no birdies and hit two bogeys.

Scheffler finished 72 holes at Colonial Country Club with a total of -9.

Scheffler’s decline became an opportunity for Sam Burns to hope to “turn the bet” and he succeeded with a spectacular breakthrough.

Sam started round 4 with two birdies on the first two holes. He finished the day with a total of 7 birdies and 2 bogeys, winning by 5 strokes.

This result helps Sam Burns equalize the total score of -9 with Scheffler on the scoreboard. The championship was settled by a play-off series.

Sam Burns made the birdie first on the extra hole and became the new champion of the Charles Schwab Challenge, the golf was born in 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas.

“I’m pretty exhausted”, Sam Burns spoke after the end of the competition. “Mentally, I’m ready to fight while there’s still time.”

Sam admits: “I don’t know if I can do it physically. But mentally, I’m totally ready.”.

The third title of the season helped Burns surpass the $ 6 million mark in prize money. Scheffler has a season prize pool of $11,215,187 for 4 wins and 2 runners-up.

Next up on the PGA Tour is the Memorial Tournament event in Ohio this weekend. Patrick Cantlay is the defending champion while Tiger Woods holds the record of five titles.
