Terrified mother threw 6 children into the well to die in India

PTI news agency quoted police as saying the 30-year-old woman threw her six children, including five girls, into a well in Raigad district, Maharashtra state on May 30.

According to local officials, the horrific incident happened in the village of Kharavali, about 100 km from Mumbai on the afternoon of May 30. Before committing the crime, the woman was beaten by members of her husband’s family.

The children who drowned were between the ages of 18 months and 10 years old. The woman’s condition is unknown, while police are investigating.

Also in Maharashtra state on May 30, PTI reported that a child had died, his mother was unconscious in a hotel and his father was missing in an incident that caused a stir in public opinion. Authorities suspect they were involved in a “suicide plan”.

The child who died was a 6-year-old girl. The incident happened in Thane city, Maharashtra state. Police say the couple – Rayan and Poonam Brako, 30 – are in debt. They and their daughter Anakya, 6, rented a hotel room on Mira Street last weekend.

On the evening of May 29, the couple is said to have poisoned their daughter’s food. All three ate poisoned food but only the girl died, the mother lost consciousness and the father went missing after leaving the hotel on May 30. Police found a bottle of poison in the hotel room.

The man is said to have tried to strangle his wife after discovering the poison had no effect on her. This woman used to be a teacher.

Police are looking for the father to clarify the cause of the incident.
