Training plane crash in Taiwan (China), 1 pilot died

The media Taiwan Reportedly, an AT-3 training aircraft of the senior group of the Taiwan Air Force Officers School, Gangshan District, Kaohsiung City suddenly disappeared from the radar screen when taking off for a training flight at 8:30 a.m. this morning and lost contact with the pilot.

The plane was later found by the authorities and still in a state of smoke rising from the fuselage. A body was found at the scene, identified as the pilot who died during the mission.

Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

In recent years, Taiwan’s air force has often suffered from plane crashes. Most recently, on January 11, an F-16V fighter jet crashed into the sea, killing one pilot. Early last year, two F-35E fighter jets collided during a training flight, leaving one pilot seriously injured and one pilot missing.

Before that, in 2020 there were also at least four aircraft-related accidents that occurred in the Taiwanese air force.
