Ukraine counterattacked fiercely in Kherson, Russian troops suffered serious casualties

The ministry also alleges that Russian forces fired on civilian infrastructure in and around the villages of Prybuzke, Posad-Pokrovske, Blahodatne, Osokorivka, Novooleksandrivka and the town of Novovoronstovka in Kherson Province. At the same time, Russian forces also strengthened their air defense systems, specifically deploying more S-300 air defense missile systems to prevent counterattacks of the Ukrainian army.

Kherson was the first city to fall to Russian forces in the first days of the conflict that began on February 24. Now many experts say that Kherson province could be the key to preventing Russia from winning the conflict.

Once in control of Kherson, Russia established a land bridge from eastern and southern Ukraine to the Crimean peninsula. Kherson is also a springboard for Russian strategic forces to organize combat operations against Odessa with the goal of approaching the Transnistria region in Moldava.

If the Russian military succeeds in capturing Odessa, Ukraine will no longer have access to the Black Sea and the Sea of ​​Azov will essentially become Russian waters.
