Crowded with customers, Chinese restaurant explodes

Sputnik quoted local authorities on June 1 as saying that a fire broke out after an explosion at a restaurant in Trường Sa City, Hunan Province, central China, killing at least one person and 13 others. injured.

The incident happened at 6:30 a.m. the same day. Fire crews, paramedics and law enforcement officers were quickly deployed to the scene. All victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

At the time of the explosion, there were a lot of diners at the restaurant because it was during the serving time of breakfast, usually from 5:30 to 8 a.m. daily.

The cause of the explosion has not been clarified. Authorities have opened an investigation.

In January this year, at least 16 people were killed and 10 injured in an explosion suspected of a gas leak in Wulong district, Chongqing city – China.

The explosion happened at noon on January 7 (local time) at the canteen of a local government agency.

The explosion caused collapsed building, trapping 26 people inside. All those trapped were then removed from the rubble. The injured are being treated at the hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, at the time of the explosion, the victims were eating at the canteen.
