According to Reuters news agency, Israel is dependent on air defense systems that cost tens of thousands to millions of dollars with similar features.
Meanwhile, the new Iron Beam system uses lasers to scorch and neutralize air threats for as little as $2 per interception.
The prototype of Iron Beam was introduced by Israel last year. Prime Minister Bennett expects the system to be operational in early 2023.

“It’s a game changer, we’re not just attacking the enemy, we’re going to bankrupt them,” Bennett said during a visit to the country’s defense manufacturer Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.
“Up until now, we have spent a lot of money to intercept each missile. Today, they (the enemy) can invest tens of thousands of dollars on a missile and we will invest 2 dollars for electricity to intercept that missile,” added the Israeli prime minister.
