Vietnam is Canada’s most important trading partner in Southeast Asia

Referring to the milestone of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2023, Ambassador Shawn Steil affirmed that Vietnam is Canada’s most important trading partner in Southeast Asia and the two countries have many potential to jointly develop the economy.

Mr. Steil was appointed as Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam on March 29. Over the past time, despite facing many difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the trade turnover between Vietnam and Canada will reach more than 6 billion USD in 2021, an increase of nearly 19% compared to 2020. The trade surplus between the two sides reached 4. 54 billion USD.
