At the 31st SEA Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation showed great determination, surpassing themselves with outstanding achievements with 446 medals of all kinds. In which, achieved a record with 205 gold medals, broke 21/41 SEA Games records, consolidated the leading position in athletics and ranked second in swimming, successfully defended the gold medal in men’s football. and female.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam is hosting the 31st SEA Games with many difficulties and challenges in the context of the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic; even the organizational plan had to be delayed 6 months compared to the expected.

With the leadership, direction and high determination of the Party and State; the drastic efforts of ministries, branches, agencies and localities; the companionship and support of businesses and people; and especially the great efforts in training and competition of nearly 5,000 athletes, in 40 sports, mostly OLYMPIC and ASIAD, we had a great success in SEA Games.

It is also a testament to Vietnam’s safe and flexible adaptation and effective control of the COVID-19 epidemic, which is on the way of strong recovery and economic development, confidently opening up to the world.
