15 years of Violympic – A journey to ignite students who love math and technology

Today (June 2), the ceremony of honoring and awarding the Internet Math and Physics Prize Competition (Violympic) for the school year 2021 – 2022 in the Northern region took place in Hanoi marking the 15th year milestone of the next Violympic. ignite a passion for mathematics and create opportunities to access digital technology for 40 million students nationwide.

Particularly for the school year 2021 – 2022, based on the results and validity of the national finals, from 64,569 students, 7,455 students from Primary to High School won prizes in 3 subjects: Math in English, Math in Vietnamese and Physics, in which 814 students won the Gold prize; 1,347 students won silver prizes; 2,149 students won bronze prizes; and 3,145 students won the Consolation prize.

Statistics by subject, Vietnamese Maths leads with 504 Gold prizes, 919 Silver prizes, 1,409 Bronze prizes, 2,226 Consolation prizes. English Math has 200 candidates won Gold, 307 Silver, 510 Bronze, 701 Consolation prizes. Physics has 110 Gold prizes, 121 Silver prizes, 230 Bronze prizes and 218 Consolation prizes.

To achieve these achievements, the students excellently passed 6 rounds of self-training, 3 rounds of school, district, province/city, as well as took the lead in the race of nearly 65,000 students from all over the world. 49 provinces and cities participated in the national final round.

In the school year 2021 – 2022, Ninh Binh is the leading locality in the number of students winning prizes, with a total of 1,224 students. Meanwhile, the most Gold prize belongs to Phu Tho province. Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Thai Binh, and Hanoi are always among the top provinces with the highest number of contestants participating and winning the highest prizes at the Violympic Games every year.

The year 2022 also marks the 15th year of the Internet Violympic Math and Physics Prize Competition. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Violympic Program Director: “Violympic was born and developed with the desire to contribute to improving the quality of the Violympic Games. teaching and learning in schools through the application of IT, creating a friendly and healthy online playground, thereby supporting students to review, consolidate knowledge, familiarize themselves with the Internet and use the Internet as a method of teaching and learning. effective learning.”

As one of the first online math playgrounds in Vietnam, Violympic has quickly received the support and enthusiastic participation of millions of students across the country, the number of students participating next year is higher than last year. before.

Starting from the Math competition in Vietnamese on the Internet, Violympic expanded to both English Math and Physics. From the scale of 40,000 students participating, Violympic has become the “spiritual food” of nearly 40 million students in 63 provinces and cities across the country with nearly 100 million practice times on the system every year. At times, Violympic receives more than 300 million visitors/month with nearly 200,000 simultaneous visitors. In the period 2015 – 2016, Violympic has gone beyond Vietnam when launching playgrounds such as Global Violympic (attracting 35,000 contestants from 35 countries and territories).

With the strength of technology, Violympic also constantly improves the system and infrastructure, upgrading features every season to better support and create positive motivation for students’ learning. Testing and launching versions on smart electronic devices, applying artificial intelligence and big data to improve the learning and exam preparation experience, enhance security, and improve the service capacity of the system. system to ensure stability and smoothness, optimize administrative functions, etc., the contest has contributed to laying the first bricks for education 4.0 in Vietnam.

Thanks to these efforts, after 15 years Violympic has affirmed its pioneering position as one of the most reliable quality and large-scale knowledge playgrounds in Vietnam. The contest has been recognized with prestigious awards: Vietnam Information and Communication Technology Award, Sao Khue Award for educational products and services (2009).

At the same time, the contest also overcomes the spatial distance, giving equal learning opportunities to students from all over the country.
