The aneurysm has a large size, heavy bleeding causes brain compression, and DSA endovascular intervention is difficult. The surgical team clamped the neck of the aneurysm to stop the bleeding, and at the same time took the hematoma, preserving the surrounding normal blood vessels.
According to Dr. Hung, it is likely that the broken blood vessel has too thick atheroma, so its ability to temporarily stop bleeding will give the patient a chance to go to the hospital three days after the rupture. “This is extremely fortunate,” said the doctor.

After 5 days of surgery, the patient’s health was stable, he recovered well, and his limbs were not weak. When he regained consciousness, the patient said that he was singing an old song in karaoke when he “heard something explode in his head like beating a desiccated coconut, then it went dark”. She has a history of high blood pressure, for more than a year now, she is often dizzy but does not take her blood pressure medication regularly, when “increase, drink, when down, stop”.
Dr. Hung assessed that the patient’s aneurysm could have been at least a year before, because of its very large size. Therefore, when the patient sings, he may have exerted himself in the climax, leading to increased blood pressure, increased blood flow beyond the limit of the aneurysm, causing rupture. After recovering from the hospital, patients need to be periodically re-examined so that doctors can re-evaluate whether there is an aneurysm recurrence or not.
Doctors recommend that middle-aged patients with hypertension, headache, drooping eyelids, stiff neck… should be screened for cerebral aneurysms at least once by MRI. Patients with hypertension need long-term control drugs, almost lifelong treatment as prescribed by the doctor, do not arbitrarily stop when blood pressure stabilizes.
