Following in the footsteps of Marcelo and Isco, Gareth Bale left Real Madrid

On the personal page, Gareth Bale posted: “I am writing this to say thank you to all my teammates, past and present, coaches, team staff and fans who have supported me. I came here 9 years ago as a young man who wants to realize his dream of playing for Real Madrid.”

“Put on pure white clothes, wear a badge on your chest, play at the Santiago Bernabeu, win trophies and be part of what is so famous, win the Champions League. Now I can look Come back, reflect, and honestly say that this dream has come true and much more.”

The letter was posted by Bale on his personal page

“Being part of the history of this club and achieving what was achieved as a Real Madrid player has been an incredible experience and one that I will never forget. I also want to thank the President. Florentino Perez, Jose Angel Sanchez, and the board gave me the opportunity to play for the team.”

“Together, we were able to create some moments that will live on in the history of this club. It was an honor. Thank you all! HALA MADRID! Gareth Bale.”

Joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 from Tottenham for a record transfer fee of 100 million euros. After nine years, Bale played 258 matches, scored 106 goals in 258 appearances, and won 16 titles with Real Madrid, including 3 La Liga titles and 5 Champions League titles.

Gareth Bale’s role was gradually overshadowed at Real Madrid due to injuries and disagreements with coach Zinedine Zidane. This led to Bale having to go to Tottenham on loan during the 2020/21 season. Last season, back with Real Madrid, Bale played only 7 matches, scored 1 goal, including 5 matches in La Liga and 2 in the Champions League.

The 32-year-old star is the third player to leave Real Madrid on a free basis after the 2021/22 season. Before Bale, Marcelo and Isco also left the Bernabeu because of the expiration of their contracts.
