Four ways to sleep well when traveling by bus

Foreign travel bloggers advise on how to sleep well when traveling by bus.

To save costs, tourists can choose to take a long-distance bus instead of a plane or train. On some routes, you are required to take a bus when there is no other vehicle. Buses are also preferred by many younger travelers, although comfort may be sacrificed. Here are the experiences of sleeping well when traveling by coach shared by travel bloggers.

Suitable seat

“For someone with a short stature, the position near the window will be most suitable,” said blogger Alexey Moiseev. He said, this position is less disturbed and you can rest your head against the window to sleep soundly. In order not to be shocked when leaning on the door, you can put an extra U-shaped pillow. If you are tall and have long legs, you should sit in the aisle. Here, you can easily stretch your legs. And the most comfortable is to sit in the last row, where other guests passing do not trip your feet. But it should be noted that the last row seats usually do not recline.

Snack

It will be difficult to sleep if hungry, but advice not to eat too full. A light meal is most reasonable. You can drink with cooling tea but should not drink too much to avoid having to go to the toilet. A few hours before the trip, you can eat nuts and dried fruit. “They contain tryptophan, a substance that has a nerve-stabilizing effect that helps you have a good night’s sleep,” says travel photographer Anna Perevozchikova. Absolutely do not drink coffee.

Wear comfortable clothes

Instead of tight jeans, you should wear loose-fitting sportswear and a light jacket in reserve. Coaches may have air conditioning that makes you cold. “The best outfit for a long bus trip is a jacket with a hood to keep you out of the air,” says blogger Tatyana Yefimova. And Anna Perevozchikova recommends wearing slippers instead of shoes when boarding a long-distance coach.

Listen to podcasts or music

One of the best sleep aids is listening to a podcast by an author you don’t like, in a monotone, slow, dull voice. This is the experience of blogger Alexey Moiseev. If you don’t have a podcast, you can listen to music, played at low volume. It is recommended that you preload songs with the theme of “deep sleep” or “lullabies”. The phone, music player may run out of power suddenly or the music gets boring at some point, please replace the headset with earplugs to avoid noise.
