Indonesia expands visas for tourists

With the expansion of this list, now, citizens from 72 countries can enter Indonesia and get Visa on arrival at 9 airports, 11 seaports and 4 border posts. New regulations are introduced in the Circular of the Director General of the Indonesian Immigration Department dated April 28, 2022 on immigration facilities to support sustainable tourism during the Covid-19 pandemic. The new decision does not expand visa-free entry for special visits, which currently applies to ASEAN citizens.

Previously, in March 2022, Indonesia resumed visa-on-arrival service and tested quarantine exemptions for travelers from 23 countries, including Vietnam, to the tourist island of Bali. By the end of March, Indonesia extended visa on arrival to 43 countries, bringing nearly 15,000 foreign tourists to the Island of the Gods within nearly a month.
